These are the following persons and entities that can act as an Executor:

Individual: An individual who is at least 18 years old and is mentally and physically capable can serve as a personal representative. The person does not need to be a resident of Florida, unless he or she is a non-relative.
Bank or Trust Company: A legally established bank or trust company can serve as a personal representative.
Non-resident: A non-resident of Florida can act as a personal representative if they are related to the decedent by blood, marriage, or adoption. This includes a legally adopted child or adoptive parent of the decedent; related by lineal consanguinity to the decedent; a spouse, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, nephew, or niece of the decedent, or someone related by lineal consanguinity to any such person; or the spouse of a person otherwise qualified under this section.

However, some individuals are expressly prohibited from serving as personal representatives in Florida, including those who have been convicted of a felony, are mentally or physically unable to perform the duties, or are under the age of 18.
